Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if I have a leak?

Check your meter for movement. Turn off the water in the house and make sure the dishwasher or washing machine is not running. Watch the water meter. If the number change you most likely have a leak.
Check your toilet for water loss. Put a couple drops of food coloring in the tank and wait 10-15 minutes. If there is colored water in the bowl, you are losing water and may need to repair/replace the flapper seal in the tank. The WDWD office will also supply you with toilet dye strips.
Check your statement. If your water usage is out of the ordinary with how much water you typically use, give us a call and we can send a WDWD representative to your house to check your meter.

Who is responsible for repairing a leaking water line?

If the leak is between the meter and the house, repairs are the responsibility of the customer. If the leak is from the meter to the mainline, WDWD is responsible for the repairs.

Why do I suddenly have low/high water pressure?

If you have a pressure regulator it may be wearing out. If you notice diminishing/no water pressure or high-water pressure, hammering or vibrating noises in your walls, it could be a sign that your pressure regulator is going bad. Low water pressure could also be an indication of a faulty plumbing fixture or a leaking pipe. You may also contact the office to set up a pressure check by a WDWD representative.

Can I pay my bill online?

Yes, you can now pay your bill online. From our homepage, click the "Pay My Bill Online" link at the top of the page. From there, you will need your account number, which can be found on your bill.
Please note, WDWD is not affiliated with DOXO. DOXO payments are not received immediately, which could result in a late fee on your account. You may also be charged a fee by DOXO for using their service. Paying your bill directly from our website is more reliable and it’s free!

NOTICE: The District now offers a Recurring Payment option for all Customers using a debit or credit card. Please contact the office for further information.

I did not use any water, why am I still getting billed?

Although our base rate includes 4000 gallons of water consumption, our base rate for water services is charged regardless of water use. The base rate charge is associated with our costs to be able to provide water on-demand. We do not have a vacancy rate.

Do you have a grace period for payments?

Yes, bills are out by the first of the month, payments are due the 15th of each month. If we do not receive payment by the 25th, you will be assessed a $5 late fee.

Helpful tips to maximize water efficiency this summer.

• Try not to over water. A lawn needs about an inch of water per week to thrive and keep it green. A simple rain gauge is all you need, or container works great to verify you are achieving approximately 1 inch per week.

• Signs of overwatering include a squishy lawn, excess run off, or a sudden growth of weeds which thrive on plenty of water.

• Water early in the morning to maximize the saturation into your lawn or garden. 5am-8am or late at night when the temperature is cooler.

• Check sprinkler systems for leaks or faulty parts.

• Pay attention to the water usage on your bill. The Water District does its best to identify a more than normal usage, but we do not catch everything.

Please contact the office immediately if you notice your usage is out of the ordinary or if you have identified a water leak.
