Helpful tips to maximize water efficiency this summer.

• Try not to over water. A lawn needs about an inch of water per week to thrive and keep it green. A simple rain gauge is all you need, or container works great to verify you are achieving approximately 1 inch per week.

• Signs of overwatering include a squishy lawn, excess run off, or a sudden growth of weeds which thrive on plenty of water.

• Water early in the morning to maximize the saturation into your lawn or garden. 5am-8am or late at night when the temperature is cooler.

• Check sprinkler systems for leaks or faulty parts.

• Pay attention to the water usage on your bill. The Water District does its best to identify a more than normal usage, but we do not catch everything. Please contact the office immediately if you notice your usage is out of the ordinary or if you have identified a water leak.
